RPG Programmer Analyst

MUST have strong RPG Skills.

On site position. Manufacturing company located NW of Minneapolis.

SKILLS:

Computer skills knowledge of database software, development software, internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing, AS/400 RPG, RPGLE, CLIP, SQL, Screen Design, Form Design software, EDI software, Label and Laser Printer software, and AS/400 operation.

BPCS a plus.

JOB PURPOSE

Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer systems. Designs logical and physical databases and coordinates database development as part of the project team, applying knowledge of database design standards and database management systems. Responsibilities include functional design, coding, and testing quality solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Consults with Supervisors, Systems Analysts, other programmers, and end users to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.

2.Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within the existing system

3.Creates test transactions and runs tests to determine coding effectiveness

4.Analyzes data to ensure personnel and systems are working as designed.

5.Creates and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and source/target data mapping. Updates installation and operating procedures documentation.
