We are currently seeking an IT Security Engineer to join our team in our Nashville, TN, Statesville, NC or Pensacola, FL office. The IT Security Engineer is responsible for driving the implementation of a program to protect the organizations IT assets, infrastructure, and data against cyber threats in a complex and growing environment. This position will build security capabilities and practices that enable us to comply with IT Compliance responsibilities. This is accomplished with the establishment of a strong enterprise security posture considering facets of risk identification, policy, architecture, tooling, user training, operational adaptation, and production readiness. Building a combination of preventive and detective security mechanisms will allow us to improve our resilience to a variety of threats.

Responsibilities

Enables the organization-wide capability to deploy, maintain, and support our products, services, and infrastructure in a secure manner
Automates security best practices
Technically assists in the secure implementation of new technologies, upgrades, and security enhancements
Participates in our responses to compliance information requests
Performs vulnerability scanning and recommends remediation options
Safeguards the availability, continuity, and security of data and information pertaining to the organization
Develops and maintains IT Security related network diagrams, policies, checklists, standards and procedures
Reviews vendor specific vulnerabilities for applicability on company assets
Schedules, procures, and acts as the primary liaison for all IT Security related audits, penetration tests, exercises, and assessments
Conducts security training to both technical and lay audiences
Maintains knowledge around current IT Security vulnerabilities, exploits, risks to the organization, and secure technologies
Assists in creating and maintaining IT Security roadmaps, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), milestones and metrics
Responsible for driving and deploying high-level cyber security strategic planning decisions with Product, Operation, Engineering, and Executive teams
Monitors the network for critical data mishandling and assists in the prevention of data breach
Documents the baseline environment as it relates to cyber security, produces compliance reports, analyzes systems for possible malicious activity, and develops incident response playbooks
Evaluates security technology requirements, develops functional specifications and conducts comparative analysis
Assists in the development of secure infrastructure architecture, including network, server, authentication and authorization, data store, remote access, and encryption/key management aspects

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science, Information Risk Management, IT Security, or equivalent experience in a related field
Strong AWS experience, including IAM administration, and the implementation of traditional and serverless architectures in a distributed environment
5+ years of demonstrated significant experience and knowledge in IT Security
Minimum 5 years technical experience in the administration of the following technologies: AWS cloud security tools, firewalls, Linux servers, Antimalware/Antivirus, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, Windows servers and workstations, vendor access management, and patch management tools
3 - 5 years of experience in at least three of the following areas; secure system configuration, CI/CD system security, data protection, vulnerability management, SIEMs, certificate and key management, security analysis, incident response management, security event forensic analysis, risk/security assessments, secure network engineering, disaster recovery planning
Practicing knowledge in some or all of the following areas: security awareness, risk management, cyber defense, penetration testing tools and methodologies, defense in depth, cloud security, threat analysis, incident response, change control, audits, cyber law, assessments, point-of-sale hardening techniques and Software Development Life Cycle
Familiarity with popular compliance, policy, and audit frameworks, such as SIG, SOC, NIST, and ISO 27000
Demonstrates expert analytical skills to develop effective solutions to identified security needs with competing priorities/needs/resources
Strong administrative skills, with a demonstrated ability to successfully plan and implement strategic initiatives
Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills in a variety of environments, ranging from customers, strategic partners, executive management, external auditors, developers, and vendors
Strong ability to communicate effectively, in both oral and written form
Able to work on rotation in a 24x7 environment and be an on call representative for IT Security
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred
